5 Great Bathroom Ideas For Your New Fort Wayne Renovation

Bathroom renovation in Fort Wayne is on the rise so contact us at Wismer Contractor Referrals to get your project started now! Below is an article with some good ideas to get you thinking – enjoy!

5 Great Bathroom Ideas
Bathroom ideas are available virtually anywhere you look. From magazines to online stores, you may have more ideas for your new bathroom than you know what to do with. But with the right type of planning and research you can end up with a bathroom that includes everything you want at a price you can afford.

Here are five great bathroom ideas to consider before embarking on your new bathroom renovation:

1) Basins (Sinks)

Basins can allow for upgrades and designs that can make them the centerpiece of your bathroom. Recently, the most popular basins are wide and shallow, and can be set in a slab surface or mounted in a wall with ample storage below. With options to add chrome taps and matching accessories, basins can add an extra flair to an otherwise plain bathroom.

2) Tiles-

Tiles are a great addition to your new bathroom because they allow for unlimited options in color and design. They are also far more durable than other types of materials on the market, and if a tile breaks, you won’t have to replace the whole floor. For contrast you can use different color grout than the tiles themselves, or you can use different color tiles around the boarders of the floor. Tiles are rugged and durable, and they give the bathroom an elegant feel that many other surfaces can’t match.

3) Baths-

Baths are usually the first thing you notice when you walk into a bathroom, and there are many options available for any renovation. For larger bathrooms a modern roll-top bathtub is a great choice. These baths are sometimes mounted on blocks or in a cradle, and they are designed to sit in the middle of the room and act as the centerpiece. For smaller bathrooms the tub can be built into the surrounding material, and for exceptionally small bathrooms, renovation specialists can build a recessed shower that opens up the space to other amenities such as toilets and vanities.

4) Walls-

Although water resistant wallpaper is still a reliable choice for the walls of a bathroom, tiles are becoming more and more popular as a fashionable and durable replacement. The only drawback of tiled walls is that they don’t do well with condensation and can make a regular bathroom feel like a steam room. To solve this problem you can install under floor heating and/or quality ventilation. If simple paint more aptly fits your needs, alternating vertical stripes of similar colors is a great way to make a small bathroom look significantly larger.

5) Brassware-

Brassware is perfect for upgrading understated baths or vanities. The current trend is for brass accents and large brass showerheads, but remember that this type of material spots easily so it will require constant cleaning. Before purchasing brass for your bathroom you should do your research. Each type of brass is rated differently for hard water durability and wear, and there are many varieties to choose from.

The last tip is to seek professional advice before starting your renovation. Though doing it yourself appears to save you money, the worth of your home will probably suffer and the money you saved will be lost when you choose to sell it. Needless to say, the extra investment you spend for a professional remodel will pay off in the end. Choosing your bathroom design is an extremely important decision for many homeowners. It is a consensus among real estate experts that the bathroom is one of the rooms that adds the most value to any home. Therefore, it is extremely important when choosing a design for your tiling.

Ceramic is a popular choice for designing bathrooms because of its reasonable price and beautiful look. Further, ceramic tile may be used for both floor tiling and wall tiling. There are several different options that many folks can take when choosing a bathroom design using ceramic tile. Regardless of the design that you choose to use, there are a few key guidelines that you should always take into consideration before making a decision:

1. Consistency- When designing with ceramic tile, it is essential that homeowners stay consistent throughout the design process. This means that if you should choose to use a certain color palette for your floor tile, you should always stay consistent with the type of tile you choose to use for your wall tiles so that you can achieve a consistent look in the room.

2. Stay creative- Even though you should be consistent when choosing a color palette, you can still be quite creative with ceramic tiles. That is, you should choose different sizes for the floor tiles and the wall tiles. Another interesting way to stay creative is by laying the floor tiles on a diagonal, as opposed to laying them straight. This design pattern will provide a diamond shaped look, and will help make your bathroom look unique or different than other bathrooms. You can also choose to lay the wall tiling in a diagonal pattern as well.

3. Make small changes for a big impact- One way to make a big impact with ceramic tiles is by using an accent color and creating a pattern for that color. For example, you can choose one off color tile and lay it every 4 tiles throughout the bathroom. This may sound like it is contradicting the consistency guideline, but if you are consistent in your creativity, these small changes can make a huge impact in the overall look and feel of your bathroom.

Choosing bathroom tiles can be a daunting task, but designing with ceramic tile can be quite cost effective, while continuing to maintain a high end look. I have provided three guidelines for designing with ceramic tile; however, these are not the be-all design. Seeking the advice of a design professional is recommended when make major changes to your bathroom. Good luck with your project and remember to always have fun while doing it.

How often, when you visit the bathroom, are you imagining, planning or mentally measuring for décor changes, improvements and new fittings? Home magazines are full of bathroom renovation ideas that the do-it-yourself homeowner can accomplish over the weekend, although more ambitious projects relating to new plumbing or electrical wiring usually require the assistance of a professional. Whatever the scope of the renovation project, most people are looking for something unusual and extraordinary that their neighbours will not already have. We often assume that this is difficult to achieve in the bathroom, probably the most functional and generic part of the home. However, with a few original remodeling ideas you can produce an extraordinary effect and in a bathroom that resembles your own personal spa and which will be the envy of your friends and neighbours.

There are a variety of modern inventions that can be incorporated into your perfect bathroom, but perhaps the most brilliant is the heated floor. Imagine stepping out of relaxing hot bath or shower on a chilly winter evening, and finding warm tiles under your feet instead of stone cold ones. This is now possible with electric floor heating technology. If you are considering replacing your bathroom floor why not consider adding this luxurious feature, and for a very reasonable cost you can heat your floor to a comfortable temperature that you control.

If the heated floor is the most brilliant development in bathroom design, the most unusual has to be the chromatherapy tub. Holistic healers have long believed that color can have a huge impact on a person’s psyche and this colorful bathtub is aimed at translating this effect onto the human body. The suggestion is that certain colors placed close to the body can actually penetrate the skin, causing alterations in physiology and healing illness and regenerating the cells of the body. Some vendors, in addition to selling chromatherapy bathtubs, are offering LED light ports which produce a heightened effect. If you are considering including a chromatherapy bath in your new bathroom design it is safe to say you will probably be the first in your neighborhood to embrace this technology.

There are many other, more conventional, bathroom remodeling ideas that will nevertheless add greatly to the luxury of your home. These include the installation of a multiple water jet body spa, to reward yourself with an invigorating massage in the shower, or a simple steam shower which is ideal for relaxing after a stressful day at the office. The options available to you when remodeling your bathroom are no longer restricted to a standard shower and bathtub; you can really let your imagination run wild on what you would like to see in your ideal bathroom and most of these possibilities are available within a reasonable budget.

Tips For Maintaining Your Washer And Dryer

Here’s 7 good tips for maintaining your machines from the DIY Network. If you need some work done and live in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area, we have a great repair company in the network. Give us a ring.

Washer

  • It is best to replace the washing machine with blow-proof washing machine hoses, but first clean and lubricate the washing machine shut off valves. This should be done every spring. Dirt can accumulate on the valve stems and restrict their movement. Turning the valves once in a while throughout the year also helps make sure they are not seizing.
  • To avoid a mess, it is a good idea to drain the hoses once they are disconnected. When connecting the new hoses, make sure each hose goes from the correct temperature valve to the correct intake nozzle on the machine. Once everything is connected turn on the water and check for leaks.
  • To level the washing machine (and dryer) turn the foot in the direction that adjusts it appropriately up or down.
Once everything is connected, turn on the water and check for leaks.

Dryer

  • Check and adjust the dryer vent. Find the most direct path to the outside vent, but leave some slack so there is no strain on the hose. Mark the proper length and cut off the excess with a utility knife.
  • If a nozzle is being used to couple the hose to the outdoor vent, secure it with heat rated foil tape. Two layers of foil tape are best around these joints.
  • Vacuum the hose, the vent on the machine and the outdoor vent before reattaching the hose. Vacuum the lint screen receptacle.
  • Keeping lint under control is critical both for cleanliness and for household safety. Clean the line screen after every dryer cycle.
